Thuso’s real name is Presley Chweneyagae. He was born on the 19th of October 1984 in a family of three siblings. So currently he is 39 years old. His mother named her after her favourite musician, Elvis Presley. The actor is married to a Swazi woman and they have three children together.
He is an award winning South African actor of Tswana origin, producer, industrial theatre specialist, motivational speaker and master of ceremonies. He won the following awards, Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, Black Film Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and also Golden Horn for his role in The River at the South African Film and Television Awards.
About his career, he attended drama school owned by a stage director and play writter. Although he had acted before in community theatre projects and plays, Tsotsi was his first feature film.
He gained popularity after he won an award for his starring role in the film Tsotsi in 2006. Presley’s most recent role is Thuso “Cobra” Mokoena on The River South African Telenovela.
He played various TV roles in different soapies and broadcasts as an actor, presenter and poet which includes 90 Plein Street, iNumber Number, The South African Film and Television Awards, Thula’s Vine, When We Were Black and The River. Also, he played different characters in the following movies, Menda City, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Zama Zama, More Than Just a Game, State of Violence and Africa United.
