Nandi Madida was born on 13 November 1987 in Kwa–Zulu Natal, South Africa. She was raised in Durban by her parents and had two siblings. She attended the University of the Witwatersrand, where she studied through the National Diploma in Media Studies.

Madida was born in Maphumulo and was raised in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. She went to Danville Park Girls High School, and after finishing her matric, she studied law at UKZN and later at Varsity College, even though her initial plan was to pursue journalism. Madida has been a dancer and model since childhood.

Nandi Madida started her career as a model, appearing in several magazines and commercials. She then made her acting debut in the TV show Isibaya in 2014. She has since appeared in several other television shows and films, including My Perfect Family and Tells Me Sweet Something. In 2017, she was appointed host of the music show The Big Secret, and in 2018, she was chosen to host the travel show Travel with Nandi. She has also appeared in several music videos and launched her fashion line, Nandi Madida, in 2019.\
