Trevor Noah was born to a Xhosa mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, and a Swiss–German father, Robert Noah. His parents were not legally married at the time of his birth, as South Africa prohibited interracial marriages under apartheid laws. As a result, Noah was labelled “coloured” by the government. Growing up in Soweto, he experienced racial discrimination and poverty. His mother famously took him to a movie theatre and snuck him in, pretending he was her son.

Noah was educated at Maryvale College, a private Catholic school in Johannesburg. However, he does not hold a degree or diploma; he chose to follow his dreams of becoming Mzansi’s finest comedian.
Career
Noah began his career as a comedian in South Africa in 2002. He has since performed stand–up comedy in over 100 countries, including the United States, England, France, and Germany. In 2011, he became the first South African stand–up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2015, he became the host of The Daily Show, a satirical news show on Comedy Central. Noah has also appeared in films, television shows, and radio programs, including You, Don’t Mess with the Zohan (2008) and Mad Buddies (2012). He has also been featured in A-class movies, and many love to hate his acting skills.
