Brenda grew up in Cape Town, South Africa in a suburb called Kalk Bay. The actress speaks 3 languages namely, isiXhosa, Africaans and English.
She has one child, a daughter whose father is not known. She became a mother at the age of 42 in 2022 and announced the news about her giving birth on social media. Brenda does not have a husband although she had been in and out of relationships and has never been married.
At some point in 2013 she gave up the city life and took a sabbatical leave moving to her rural home in Xolobe in Tsomo, Eastern Cape. She invested while she was acting and was able to built herself and fulfilled her dream. At that time she left the city because she was not in good space.
Brenda went through the sangoma initiation process called ukuthwasa answering the call of her ancestors. She says it’s not something she wants to discuss at length, but she is proud to have answered the call of her African spirituality and encourages other African people to venture in their spirituality.
Despite a lot she has gone through, Brenda is still standing. She suffered emotional and sexual abuse in the industry but she decided to soldier on for the sake of her peace of mind.

Brenda enrolled in Muizenberg in 1997. She completed and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama in 2000 at the University of Cape Town.
Career like?
She began her acting career in theatre performing in shows like Pick Ups, I-Klips and Sacred Thorns, Yes Medem in 2004, and Doc’s wife. Afterwards she featured in commecials of MTN and Polka.She directed the stage play in 2004 at the Market Theatre called Through Thick and Thin. In 2005, she made her television debut playing the character of Vuyo Radebe on SABC 1 drama series called Home Affairs from 2005-2007 and she became more popular.
In 2008 she played a role on the show, Striclty Come Dancing and managed to make it to season 4. She also featured in films and she made her first film debut in 2010 playing the role of Innocence on the Spud Franchise. She continued to feature on all the three films namely , Spud in 2010, Spud 2: The Madness Continues in 2013 and Spud 3: Learning to fly in 2014. Brenda also played a role in the Television serial Rockville in 2013.
She has been in the television and film industry for almost two decades. Brenda has featured in numerous television shows throughout her career. She has currently portrays the role of NomaPrincess “Noma” on Mzansi Magic telenovela The Queen and the role of Dambisa Dikana on 1Magic’s The River.

The actress was nominated for South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) Golden Horn for Best Actress in TV Drama category in 2006, 2007 and 2011. In 2015 and 2016 she was nominated and won the Best Supportig Actress Award in TV Drama category at the SAFTA for the role she played in the serial Ses’ Top La .
Brenda is an award winning actress who was nominated and won the 35th Prestigious International Emmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in 2017 for her lead role in the e.tv drama serial Hustle.
