Loyiso MacDonald was born on 7 September 1986 and is currently 37 years old although he looks way younger than his actual age. He was born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. His father is a South African and his mother has got a Scottish background. Not much is not known about his siblings and family at large as he hardly speaks about his family.
He is married to a musician Luphiwo Mathunzi whom he dated for six years. He met with his wife at the perfomance of stage play produced by Think Theatre in Johannesburg called Othello. They had a traditional wedding ceremony on 30 September 2012 at Luphiwo’s home in Mpumalanga. He got married at the age of 26.
The couple has got one child whom Loyiso has shared a picture of together with his wife on his Instagram handle with the caption ‘The happy family details of the baby are still uncertain.
There are ramous of infidelity which threatened their marriage on the actor’s part where he has been reportedly cheated his wife Luphiwo with another actor by the name Zandile Msutswana. Both Loyiso and Zandile featured on the TV series Zabalaza, Loyiso being Ray and showing his love interest to Zandile in the series. So, it is reportedly said that their affair started from there to the tweextend that Luphiwo confronted both of them before she moved out of his house.

He studied at Pinetown Boys’ High School. He enrolled at a small Durban Film School where he studied speech and drama.
Career
He worked for a bank and a telecommunications Call Centre before venturing into acting. In 2007 he quit his job because the pay he was earning was not satisfying. He was invited to perform in several stage plays and Loyiso worked with the Durban Theatre for four years before he moved to Johannesburg in 2011.
MacDonald made remarkable debuts in movies, comedies, dramas and other theatrical physical plays. He got a role in the Princess and the Pea and the Midsummer Night’s Dream movie which were directed by Garth Anderson and Sasol Fever by Gail Snyman. Also,he performed at Durban’s Catalina Theatre by Themi Venturas. He made several performances and his first professional acting job took place in Tata maChance at the iZulu Theatre in Sibaya Casino
MacDonald played roles in several TV series such as Kiss of the Spider Woman, Othello, Escape from Nombiland and Man Up a Tree. He has also acted in the TV series playing different roles and these include, the SABC 3 soap opera Isidingo, joining the cast in April 2012 as Ntando Sibeko, He also has a starring role as PE and Geography teacher Woody Mabandlha in the SABC3 sitcom Those Who Can’t.
He featured on Happy Family playing the role of Theo Tshabalala in 2017 and on 3 Way Junction film as Bartender. In 2016 he appeared in Rockville, a South African series and also played a role of a young ANC activist in the BET TV series, Madiba.
He also played a character as Loyiso on Chin Up in 2019. In 2018 until 2023 he joined the Mzansi Magic popular TV soapie drama, The Queen playing the role of Kagiso Khoza and made his mark in South African television. On Love, Sex and 30 Candles film he featured as well as Winston and that was in 2023.
Loyiso has also played several roles in a number of television commercials which include Tops at Spar, Wimpy, Honda, Nandos and KFC.
