Three people who were suspected of killing AKA and his friend Tibz have been freed and cleared of any charges. The suspects are allegedly connected to AKA and Tibz in some way.
Their lawyer, Annelene van den Heever, told TimesLIVE that they were released on Wednesday night and have since gone into hiding because they fear for their lives.
“They have received threats to their lives, so they are hiding. The police released them in the middle of the night,” she said.
Annelene van den Heever is also the lawyer for controversial Prophet Shepherd Bushiri. She accused the police of unlawfully holding her clients and not bringing them to court on Wednesday. She said her clients only met with a lawyer for the first time on Wednesday.
“The police have leaked information that they were arrested for killing AKA and Tibz, but they have not told us anything. My clients are in the dark,” she said.
It was also revealed that there were only four suspects arrested, not five as previously reported. One of them is still in custody and will appear in court on Thursday (today) for a carjacking case. He is not related to AKA and Tibz’s murder.
The police have denied that they have made any arrests for AKA and Tibz’s shooting
