Charlize Theron (born 7 August 1975) is a South African and American actress and producer. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Silver Bear for Best Actress. She is one of the highest–paid actresses in the world and has been listed by Forbes as one of the most powerful women in the world in 2019.

Early life
Theron was born in Benoni, in the then-Transvaal Province of South Africa, the only child of Gerda Jacoba Aletta (née Maritz) and Charles Jacobus Theron (born 27 November 1947). She was raised on a farm outside Johannesburg. Theron is of Afrikaner (Dutch, with some French Huguenot and German) descent, and Afrikaner military figure Danie Theron was her great-great-uncle.
Education
Theron attended Putfontein Primary School (Laerskool Putfontein) and matriculated from the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. She then moved to the United States at the age of 16, on a one-year student exchange program.
Career
Theron began her acting career in the United States in the early 1990s, appearing in the television series Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995) and in the film 2 Days in the Valley (1996). She starred in the critically acclaimed films The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), The Cider House Rules (1999), and The Italian Job (2003).
Relationships
Theron was in a long-term relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend from 2001 to 2010. She has been in a relationship with American actor Sean Penn since 2013.
The celebrated actress has never been married and does not wish to marry. Taking during an interview, Charlize Theron said:
“I never wanted to get married. That’s never been something that’s important to me,” the Oscar winner, who has never married, said on The Howard Stern Show in 2020. “On the lives of my children, I’ve never been lonely. I’ve never felt alone,”
